The Magic Continues

in Giggles on December 25, 2018

It is nearing dinner time on Christmas Day. All of the presents have been opened. The food has been put away. But, just a few hours ago, my living room was in complete chaos.

At the break of dawn, one by one, my sleepy kids made their way downstairs. They woke up their Nana and waited patiently for the eagerly anticipated festivities of Christmas Morning to begin.

Santa had come.

Every year my kids indulge me my one fantasy…they allow me to labor under the guise that Santa continues to make stops at our house; even though my children are well into their teens. I love the look on their faces as they open gifts…gifts they asked for and some they did not. But, each one a joy and a treasure.

Last night we attended our usual church service and listened faithfully to our pastor express the inexplicable joy that comes from this season. Many people tie that joy to the Man With The Bag. Confession: I do too, to an extent. I love Santa and all that he embodies. However, I know that true joy comes from the baby in the manger. He is our true gift and treasure. While Santa does bring joy and happiness to us on Christmas Eve, the real joy comes from knowing someone bigger and better is watching over me year-round.

Tonight, and into the coming days, I pray that each of you have Merry Christmas season, that the love of a Baby fills your hearts and homes, and that the magic will continue all year long.

From our house to yours, Merry CHRISTmas!!
